Firewood, Furniture, & Woodworking

At Edgewood Community Farm, we're dedicated to sustainability and addressing climate change head-on. Our Landfill Diversion Initiative for Felled Trees and Logs, a pilot program we hope to expand in the future through additional support, is a testament to this commitment. When trees fall, we see not the end but a new beginning. Through this innovative program, we transform felled trees into valuable resources, from mushrooms, biochar, and furniture to mini-dams that combat erosion, weed-suppressing wood chips, firewood, compost, and wood crafts.

In regards to firewood, we offer seasoned firewood, including pine and oak, for inside and outside use. This firewood is split, prepared, and seasoned right on the farm year round, is sustainable, and we match the prices of other firewood services.

This initiative not only reduces the carbon footprint of tree removal but also sequesters carbon that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. We proudly partner with Aaron Dickerson, a member of our Board and CEO of The DC Contractor, to convert logs and wood into usable furniture, wood crafts, and raw materials, including live edges. For more information on purchasing live edges, wood crafts, and firewood, contact Aaron at 504-357-9090 or thedccontractor@gmail.com.
