Group Volunteering
Edgewood Community Farm offers opportunities for groups of at least five people from organizations that wish to volunteer as part of corporate days of service or other events. Groups of five or fewer are welcome to come to our regular weekly volunteer days.
During these sessions, volunteers will help with farm tasks such as weeding, planting, mulching, repairing infrastructure, helping beautify the space, or organizing materials. Tasks vary widely based on the season and ongoing projects. All tools and instruction will be provided. Volunteer sessions are available every day of the week.
Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and clothing they don’t mind getting dirty or painted on. We also recommend bringing bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, and any other sun protection. Zoned and unzoned street parking is generally available nearby, and the farm is less than a 12-minute walk from the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station and several bus lines. Volunteer groups are asked to coordinate their own lunch.
We encourage organizations to make a donation in addition to their volunteer service, depending on their financial ability. We suggest a minimum donation of $10 per person for smaller and community-based organizations. For bigger businesses, we suggest from at least $500 to $5,000.
